In a pinch for time? Use the Rapid Glow!

Want a Spray Tan, but do not have the time to sit around to wait for it to develop? Brushed Artistry offers a Rapid Tan! With a regular spray tan, you have to wait at least 8 hours to shower. With the Rapid, you can shower in as little as 2 hours depending on the darkness of the tan that you would like! This is a fantastic option for last minute tans, rainy days, last minute plans, and tanning emergencies. You know that 5-hour warning before you are told you have an event? We got you girls (or guys)! Our solution will leave your skin looking naturally bronzed. ALWAYS remember with these kinds of tans to keep an eye on the time.

The longer the solution is on your skin, the darker the tan will be. You will notice quite a bit of bronzer come off in your shower, but do not worry it is only the bronzer rinsing off, not your tan. Allow 24 hours for the skin to reach its peak level of darkness. Even after the solution is rinsed off, the tan will still continue to get darker on most skin types for the next 12-24 hours.

Please keep in mind that all tanning solutions are different! Just because you rinsed with a certain companies Rapid in a certain amount of time does not mean you will get the same results with every rapid solution on the market. For our Brushed Artistry Rapid Glow, these are the times we recommend to rinse off for each level of darkness:

2 Hours for a LIGHT tan

4 Hours for a MEDIUM tan

6 Hours for a DARK tan

8 Hours for an EXTRA DARK  tan

Having a Rapid tan makes it easier to go about your day. It is much easier for you (or your client) to set aside 2-6 hours rather than 8.  Happy tanning, and hope everyone is having a great week!

To Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After… but dont forget your Spray Tan!

It is that time of year, and the wedding bells are ringing! I have had the pleasure of working with so many brides so far this year, giving them the natural golden glowing skin for their wedding day that they have always dreamed of. Since our Glowing Skin solution is customizable I am able to give each, and every bride her own special shade that looks 100% natural on her skin. On your wedding day, you do not want to be super tan (or at least I don’t). Most brides want to look just like themselves, and to accentuate their natural features. Since we all know the damage the sun can do, not to mention you are also risking getting burned (Who wants to look sunburned on their wedding day? Not me! lol), a Spray Tan is the top option for achieving that perfect even skin tone for the big day.

When planning to book a spray tan for your wedding day I always advise doing a trial first. This gives us a chance to let you try out the service, and if you would like to go lighter or darker for the actual event we are able to do that. You will also want to do ANY waxing AT LEAST 48 hours before your appointment, and any shaving at least 24 hours prior. This gives your pores time to close in order to achieve optimal results. Also be sure to exfoliate your skin at least 24 hours prior. I suggest using a product I sell called DERMASURI. It is an amazing exfoliating mitt and will leave no residue on your skin prior to the tan.

Be sure to schedule any massages, pedicures, and manicures PRIOR to your appointment.

I have also had the pleasure of doing a ton of spray tan parties this wedding season! Spray Tan parties are a great way to tan the entire wedding party and will enhance your wedding photos. For every spray tan party of 4 or more, the Bride tans FREE!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

Has the cold weather taken a toll on your usually baby soft skin, or does your skin tend to be dry normally? If you usually have dry skin then I am sure moisturizer is a part of your everyday routine, but did you know that you should moisturize even more with a spray tan? Especially during these cold winter months (and the occasional cold week here in sunny Florida), your skin can tend to get dry. Using a moisturizer at least twice a day is a MUST when you get a spray tan. I assure that doing this will only improve your over-all spray tan, and spray tan experience, from when you first get it to when it starts to fade.

ALWAYS be sure to use a moisturizer that DOES NOT contain ALCOHOL or MINERAL OIL. These Ingredients are spray tan KILLERS and can cause your spray to fade much more rapidly. One that I highly recommend is Perfect Glow Moisturizer. It has done wonders on my own skin, and every one of my clients that have used it.

Now for those of you who don’t spray tan (what are you doing? lol) also even if you do not have dry skin, it is still important to stay moisturized. It should be an everyday part of your beauty routine no matter what kind of skin you have. Did you know prolonged use of moisturizer will reduce fine lines, and wrinkles as you age? So keep that skin moisturized, your skin will be sure to thank you as well as your spray tan artist!

3 Ways to Use Coconut Oil to Make Your Spray Tan LAST!

                                           coconuts-500x400

If you haven’t already noticed there is tons of research coming out about the benefits of using Coconut Oil. From using it while cooking to brushing your teeth, using it on your hair… but did you know it can even help you out with your SPRAY TAN? Here is how!

Make a DIY Scrub, to use while preparing for your spray tan using COCONUT OIL! I will be posting my own special blend for my favorite scrub in my next blog, but a mix of sugar and coconut oil will do the trick. You can find tons of other recipes on Pinterest as well. Exfoliating your skin before your spray tan helps to get off all the dead skin cells so that the application is even. The Coconut Oil also works as a moisturizing treatment for your skin, and moisturized skin takes better to Spray Tan.

   OrganicCoconutOil

Use COCONUT OIL as a daily moisturizer before your spray tan, and after your spray tan for baby soft skin! Dry or flaky skin will fade unevenly causing your Spray Tan to look uneven, and blotchy. A little bit of Coconut Oil goes a long way when using it as a body moisturizer. Put a small bit in your hand, and gently rub all over. Moisturized skin stays tanner longer and fades the most evenly.

best-shaving-cream

You can also use Coconut Oil to shave your legs. When shaving while you have a spray tan ALWAYS use a NEW razor NEVER a dull one. Also ALWAYS be sure to use something to shave with. I usually use conditioner but have been mixing in some Coconut Oil as well. It works GREAT! My skin is silky smooth, and it does not take off my golden glow.

So what are you waiting for? If you don’t already have some laying around the house be sure to pick up a jar of Coconut Oil the next time you are out. Your Brushed Artistry Spray Tan, and skin will thank you!

A Sunless Tan Summer

You think summer, and you think TAN. Tan skin, lightened hair, beach days, bikinis, and boats. Especially living in Florida, I have always loved to get my tan on, but this summer I did it a little bit differently. I hit the beach already looking amazing, and tan.

 10489723_10100995425855973_424276661400596107_n

I applied sunscreen as recommended (Oil-free SPF 30) PROTECTING instead of DAMAGING my skin. Skin damage these days is no joke, some sun is good – yes. Vitamin D is great, but prolonged exposure especially burning causes skin damage and premature aging. How did I do this? How could I have an amazing tan while protecting my skin that still looks natural? Glowing Skin Sunless Tanning Solution, it changed my summer.

10418189_10101001113118653_6350132718301346103_n

I have years of sunless tanning experience and have worked with many solutions. Although I never liked using those solutions on myself. I never liked the color they made me, they did not last, and when it faded I was the one looking like a fish (scaly uneven spots). Thanks to Brushed Artistry I spray tan all the time now (Thank you, Robin, you’re amazing)! It was SO nice being able to explore the Outer Banks without having to worry about laying out, turning over, etc. in order to get the color I wanted. I had it before I even left my house!

Tanning Tip Tuesday! Tips for Shaving and Spray Tans

TIPS FOR SHAVING WHILE ROCKING A BRUSHED ARTISTRY SPRAY TAN

1. NEVER USE A DULL RAZOR WHILE YOU HAVE A SPRAY TAN

Since Spray Tans are only on the top 25% of our skin, dull razors sometimes tend to take dead skin along with them too (your spray tan). This could result in an uneven fade or even a big line where you shaved. Coating your razor in Olive Oil will help to preserve it, and make it last longer.

2. Keep your razor blade SHARP by soaking it in Olive Oil

Did you know that you can preserve your razor by soaking it in olive oil? During the summer we most definitely use our razor more than any other time of year. We need to extend the lives of our daily used razors as long as possible because using a dull razor on your spray tan will not have great results.

3. Shave with CONDITIONER

Not only do most conditioners not contain the ingredients that are not good to use with spray tans (alcohol, mineral oil) but they help to keep your legs SILKY SMOOTH. This will also prolong the life of your tan! I use a $1 conditioner from Publix, and it works great. Even cheaper than a lot of shaving creams!

Sun Screens Safe for Spray Tanning

Of course, you don’t want to get sunburned. Sunscreen should be part of your daily routine when taking care of your skin, even if you do not plan on going to layout. When it comes getting color spray tanning is a safer alternative option. sunscreenBe aware though that the color on your skin does NOT protect you from the sun. The LAST thing you want is a BURN under your Spray Tan! You want to make sure that you wear an SPF at all times to protect your skin and your new spray tan. Sometimes it can be VERY hard to tell that you are burning when you are rocking your spray. Since your skin is darker, it is not as easy to see so just be sure to wear the appropriate kind of SPF at ALL times.

Now like all other products that you use while wearing your spray tan the sunscreen can NOT contain alcohol or mineral oil in the ACTIVE ingredients, and preferably not highly concentrated in the Inactive Ingredients (in the first 5 listed). I have done extensive research to find which ones work the best.

Spray Tan Tips for Spray Tan Nightmares

Have you ever got a bad spray tan? I think we all have, and we all know how incredibly difficult it is to GET IT OFF! Hopefully, from now on you have started using Brushed Artistry Mobile Tanning for your tanning services, or a sunless partner but just in case here are some tips on how to remove a bad Spray Tan!

Will Ferrell

How to remove spray tan from your BODY

Use a Magic Eraser! This removes your unwanted spray tan fast, and easy!

Put on baby or mineral and allow it to sit for 3o minutes, next take a bath and exfoliate your body (not recommended for skin that is sensitive to breakouts)

Lemon! Use a cut lemon to rub the juice on the unwanted spray tan. If you want to get really fancy add a little bit of sugar for a DIY scrub.

In the shower use baking area focusing on only one area on a time, and rub it into your skin with a washcloth (gently) DO NOT use this on your face there are special instructions for your face at the end of this section 🙂

Household White Vinegar! Apply using cotton pads and after a few minutes wipe it off with a damp cloth.

 For your FACE!

Exfoliate your face with a product made for the facial region. Then gently rub your face using a cotton ball all over. A product with salicylic acid works best. As a last resort don’t forget MAKEUP! It can do wonders, trust me.

Special tip for your fingernails and toenails…

If the spray tan has such into your cuticles, making them gross…and well orange looking its OK we have a solution to your dilemma. Soak your fingertips in POLIDENT or any generic DENTURE CLEANER (Can be found at most drug stores)

I hope this tips help! Nobody likes a bad spray tan. Use Brushed Artistry Mobile Spray Tanning 🙂 If anyone has any questions, comments, results, or any other ideas feel free to share in the comments.

Brushed Artistry Website

What is this Contouring thing everyone has been raving about?

Brushed Artistry now offers Contouring as an add on to your Spray Tan. Contouring uses a darker color to create a shadow and bring out certain features.

This is how it works: Before your overall spray, I use a paintbrush to contour certain areas of your body with the solution. These parts include muscles, stomach, chest, shoulders, arms, calves, and any other areas that can be accentuated. Then I spray the solution on top of the areas I used the paintbrush on like a regular spray tan. Contouring can help to give you a leaner appearance, and a more defined figure. It is great for photo shoots, and special events. Image

One thing that is misunderstood about contouring is that it can make you appear to have certain muscles that are not already there. It is possible, but it will not look natural. We work with your body shape, muscles, and figure to accentuate any areas we can. It really is awesome! Ask about it when scheduling your next appointment and take that glow to the next level 🙂
