Beginners Guide to Lash Extensions

I am sure you all have heard (or already have) LASH EXTENSIONS! I am a busy person, and we all know that being busy, and looking your best all the time is not the easiest thing to accomplish. That’s why I am forever grateful for the invention of Lash Extensions, and Spray Tans. For me, Lash Extensions go hand in hand with a spray tan. You can literally roll out of bed, throw on an outfit, and head out the door. Don’t forget to brush your teeth, hair, eyebrows, and all that good stuff but you get the idea. These two services make getting ready every morning SO much easier, and every night easier too. You won’t be spending 30 minutes in the bathroom trying to remove your waterproof mascara with every makeup remover in your beauty cabinet, only to STILL wake up with raccoon eyes the next morning. Oh, how I do not miss that!

When choosing a Lash Artist to do your extensions, be sure to do extensive research. A quick internet search could save you your lashes because the LAST thing you want is to go to an inexperienced artist and end up with a damaged set of natural lashes. In most cases, you get what you pay for. I have been lucky enough to find the BEST Lash Lounge in Central Florida, and it is located in the beautiful town of Windermere. Bella Lash Lounge has over 20 years in the industry so if you are in Orlando (or surrounding areas – it is worth the drive trust me!) this is your place! Giving you healthy, beautiful eyes, and lashes are their priority. You can even book online HERE, how convenient!

Now we all know that with beauty comes maintenance. You cannot just expect to get these gorgeous extensions, and them last beautifully without any care on your end, do you? Well, if you did then you have a lot to learn. Thankfully, I am here to share my knowledge and all the things I have learned on my Lash Extension journey in order to help protect your new investment.

What should I do after my lash extension appointment?

Following these important after-care instructions will aid in extending the life of your lash extensions. The first 48 hours following your application are most crucial. Care must be taken not to rub your eyes, pull your lashes, or scratch. Also, any creams, eye makeup removers, lotions, or cleansers containing oils can loosen the bond of the lash extensions. Care must be taken to apply eye cream sparingly with avoidance of the lash line area. In the shower, you should avoid direct water pressure on your extensions. Do not allow the use of a steam bath, swim or wash your face directly with hot water during the initial 48 hours after application. It’s not necessary to use an eyelash curler. Your lashes will curl naturally. The use of a traditional eyelash curler may break both the lash extensions and your natural lashes. Do not pull on your lash extensions, it may take out your own natural lash as well.

Now, these are just the basics, if you follow these instructions your lash extensions will last longer, and your natural ones will stay healthy in order to keep being able to achieve the look you desire.

If you are interested in learning even more secrets be sure to keep an eye out for my next post, it will be all about how to properly apply makeup while you have eyelash extensions. I have had a lot of people express to me that they have difficulty applying makeup without damaging the extensions. I am excited to share with you all the proper techniques, and how I keep mine looking flawless in between fills while still caking on a bunch of makeup every day 😉

One more thing, but its a BIG ONE! DO NOT get a Spray Tan the day you get your lashes done, if you do I will be unable to spray your face. Your new lashes need to stay DRY, so call me the day before your lash appointment or the day after.
